Permanent Makeup Eyebrows

Wake up with eyebrows already shaped the way you want them. No pencil, no smudging, no guesswork every morning. At Altitude Salon, Linda designs permanent makeup eyebrows suited to your face and the way you actually get ready in the morning.

Some clients want soft hair strokes with microblading. Others prefer the fuller look of powder ombré, or a hybrid of the two. Linda works with clients throughout Alpharetta, Johns Creek, Roswell, and North Atlanta and will walk you through which option fits your skin and your routine.

Types of permanent makeup eyebrows

Eyebrow permanent makeup isn't one-size-fits-all. Linda offers a few different techniques, and during your consultation she'll look at your natural brows, ask what you want day to day, and recommend the approach that fits.

Microblading

The hair stroke technique for ultra-natural brows.

Microblading creates individual, crisp hair strokes that mimic natural eyebrow hairs. Using a precise manual tool, Linda deposits pigment into the upper layers of skin to build texture stroke by stroke.

Best for:

  • Normal to dry skin
  • Sparse or over-plucked eyebrows
  • A soft, natural hair-like appearance
  • Lighter, finer natural hair

Results last: 12-18 months with proper care

Ideal if you want: Definition that looks like real hair, not makeup

Powder ombré brows

The soft, makeup effect for fuller brows.

Powder brows create a soft, shaded effect similar to eyebrow powder or pencil. Linda uses a digital machine to deposit tiny dots of pigment in a gradient — lighter at the front, gradually darker toward the tail.

Best for:

  • Oily or combination skin
  • A more defined, filled-in look
  • Active lifestyles — gym, swimming, sports
  • Existing eyebrow hair that needs more density

Results last: 18-24 months with proper care

Ideal if you want: The look of softly applied eyebrow makeup every day, without applying it

Combination (hybrid) brows

Hair strokes and shading together.

Combination brows merge microblading hair strokes with powder shading. Linda places fine hair strokes at the front of the brow, where hair naturally grows sparser, then adds soft shading through the body and tail.

Best for:

  • Hair-like texture with added fullness
  • Uneven hair growth or gaps
  • Maximum dimension and realism

Results last: 18-24 months with proper care

Ideal if you want: Both texture and fullness in one set of brows

Brow shading

Soft fill for added depth.

Eyebrow shading adds fullness throughout the brow with even coverage and smooth color.

Best for:

  • Existing brow hair that needs more definition
  • A filled-in, makeup look
  • Mature skin that may not hold hair strokes well
  • Oily skin

Results last: 18-24 months with proper care

Ideal if you want: Consistent, defined coverage

Not sure which technique is right for you? At your consultation, Linda will look at your natural brows, skin type, and routine and recommend an approach. Some clients end up mixing techniques.

The permanent makeup eyebrow process

Here's what to expect, from your first consultation through healing.

1

Consultation & design

Linda starts by asking about your goals, then examines your natural brow hair and bone structure to figure out which technique will work best. Face shape, skin type, and lifestyle all factor in.

Next is brow mapping — using measurements and proportion to plan your shape, drawn on first with a removable pencil. You review and approve the shape before any permanent work begins, and you can ask questions or request adjustments at this stage.

2

Color selection

Linda blends pigments to match your hair color and skin undertone. Brows generally look best slightly darker than your natural hair color, never harsh. She also accounts for how the color will fade over time so the results hold up.

3

Numbing

A topical numbing cream goes on the brow area and sits for 15-20 minutes. Most clients describe the procedure as light scratching or tingling rather than pain. More numbing can be applied mid-procedure if needed.

4

Application

Depending on the technique, application takes 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Linda works through each hair stroke or shading pass with breaks as needed, and will show you progress along the way.

For microblading, she follows your natural hair growth pattern stroke by stroke. For powder or ombré brows, color builds gradually for a soft, dimensional effect. Combination brows use both.

5

Aftercare instructions

Before you leave, Linda goes over aftercare and answers questions about healing. You'll get a take-home kit with everything you need — proper aftercare affects how well the color holds.

6

Touch-up appointment (4-8 weeks)

A touch-up is included and scheduled 4-8 weeks after your first appointment. Pigment fades unevenly during healing for most people — this is expected, not a mistake.

At the touch-up, Linda checks how your brows healed, adds strokes or shading where needed, and adjusts shape or color. Most clients need just the one touch-up; a few benefit from a second.

Total appointment time: 2-3 hours for the initial appointment, 1-1.5 hours for touch-up

Plan ahead: Avoid blood-thinning medications, alcohol, and caffeine for 24 hours before your appointment.

What to expect: healing timeline

Knowing the healing phases ahead of time helps — permanent makeup eyebrows look different at each stage before settling into their final color.

Days 1-2: fresh & bold

Your brows will look darker and more defined than the final result — expect 30-40% darker than healed. Some redness or slight swelling is normal and usually fades within 24 hours.

Days 3-5: darkest phase

This is usually the darkest point as the pigment oxidizes. Brows may feel dry or tight. If you think "these are too dark," that's normal at this stage — they will lighten. Follow your aftercare instructions.

Days 5-10: flaking & lightening

Light flaking begins as skin sheds naturally. Don't pick at it — let flakes fall off on their own. Brows may look lighter or patchy during this stretch; that's temporary.

Days 10-14: the "ghost phase"

Many clients hit a stage where brows look very light or barely visible, because new skin has formed over the pigment. This is normal. Color returns as healing continues.

Weeks 3-4: color returns

True color starts to show as skin finishes healing. Brows may still look lighter than the final result, and some spots may look uneven — that's exactly what the touch-up is for.

Weeks 4-8: schedule touch-up

Brows are healed enough for the touch-up. Linda checks color retention, adds strokes or shading where needed, and refines the shape. Final results show after the touch-up heals, about 4 more weeks.

6+ weeks: final results

Your eyebrows are fully healed and showing their true color and shape. With sun protection and proper care, results last 18-24 months before needing a refresh.

Aftercare basics

  • Keep them dry for 7-10 days — no swimming, saunas, or heavy sweating
  • Don't pick or scratch the flaking skin
  • Avoid direct sun during healing
  • Skip makeup on or around the brow area while healing
  • Sleep on your back if you can, to avoid rubbing brows on your pillow
  • Follow the written aftercare routine Linda gives you

Linda provides written aftercare instructions and is available for questions throughout healing.

Permanent makeup eyebrows FAQ

Answers to the questions Linda hears most from clients in Alpharetta and nearby.

Does permanent makeup eyebrows hurt?

Most clients report minimal discomfort. A topical numbing cream goes on before we begin, which cuts sensation significantly. Many describe the feeling as light scratching or pressure rather than pain, and more numbing can be added mid-procedure. Pain tolerance varies, but most clients find it easier than they expected.

How long does permanent makeup eyebrows last?

Permanent makeup eyebrows are semi-permanent and typically last 18-24 months before needing a refresh. How long yours last depends on skin type, sun exposure, skincare products, and the technique used — oily skin tends to fade faster than dry skin. Touch-ups every 18-24 months keep the color looking fresh.

What's the difference between microblading and powder brows?

Microblading uses a manual tool to create individual hair-like strokes for a subtle, natural look — best on normal to dry skin. Powder brows use a digital machine for a soft, shaded effect that lasts longer and holds up better on oily skin. Combination brows use hair strokes at the front with shading through the body and tail.

How much does permanent makeup eyebrows cost in Alpharetta?

Pricing depends on the technique and how much work your brows need. Linda gives you exact pricing at your complimentary consultation. It covers your initial appointment, a touch-up 4-8 weeks later, and aftercare products — no more buying brow pencils, powders, or gels, or booking regular shaping appointments.

Can I still wear makeup over permanent eyebrows?

Yes. Once healed, you can still add makeup if you want to, though most clients find they don't need to. You're free to add brow gel or extra color for special occasions and go bare the rest of the time.

What if I have oily skin?

Oily skin isn't a problem. Powder ombré and combination brows are built to hold up on oily skin — microblading alone may not retain as well, but adding powder shading fixes that. Linda checks your skin type at consultation and recommends the technique that will hold longest for you.

How long is the healing process?

Initial healing takes about 7-10 days, with some flaking and lightening. Full healing takes 4-6 weeks as color settles in. Most clients return to work the next day — just avoid swimming, saunas, heavy sweating, and direct sun for the first 7-10 days.

Am I a good candidate for permanent makeup eyebrows?

Most people are. It works well for sparse, thin, over-plucked, or uneven brows, for anyone who wants less time on their morning routine, active clients who swim or exercise regularly, or people dealing with hair loss from a medical condition. A few things rule it out — pregnancy, nursing, certain skin conditions, recent Botox or fillers near the brow, and some medications. Linda reviews your history at consultation.

Will my eyebrows look natural?

That's the goal, and it's what Linda designs for. Every set of brows is shaped for your face, features, and coloring, whether you choose hair strokes, shading, or a combination. Done well, they read as full, well-groomed brows — not "drawn on."

What if I don't like the shape or color?

You review and approve both before any permanent work begins, and adjustments happen during that planning stage. If something needs tweaking after healing, that's what the touch-up appointment is for. It helps to go in with realistic expectations and trust Linda's read on what will work for your features.
